Interesting ideas. Do you think there would be room for another Republican, other than Chaffee (perhaps you listed one or two and I missed 'em)?
Obama had mentioned offering McCain an olive branch which included a possible role in the admin. Whether that was just campaign rhetoric, who knows? Or is McCain too much of a loose cannon for anything? Too maverick-y or too fake maverick-y?

I think that McCain would be unlikely to want to be taking orders from Obama.
I suppose that if it was important to have another Republican in the mix, one could tap Chuck Hagel for Defense. I tend to think that that party that wins the election should develop its own farm team though. It needs to have personnel of its own with experience in the higher offices and Danzig is qualified for Defense.
